The Principal Engineer – Robotics position drives architecture, infrastructure and solution design of innovative robotics and automation integration within fulfillment and distribution centers.  This position plays a key role in the software development and implementation of highly reliable and cost effective automation equipment interface and control using the latest HaaS and industrial IoT technique, to improve the efficiency and quality of FC/DC operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads the software interface design and development between WMS and vendor robotics and material flow equipment.
Owns common equipment API specs and provides technical guidance in the integration of industrial automation solution into Nordstrom supply chain network.  
Design and develop key metrics to drive up operation throughput, equipment availability, performance and quality.
Serves as ultimate technical escalation resource for addressing engineering issues affecting machine control and integration. 
Influences business and technology stakeholders on new automation technology adoption and industry best practices.
 
KEY QUALIFICATIONS

6+ years professional experience in software architecture and development using connected devices, especially in high volume, high throughput retail or manufacturing industries.  
4+ years working experience in embedded software design and development.  Work experience with industrial IoT is a plus.
4+ years working experience in SOA, Java/Linux and database
BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent required.  MS in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred.
