Cloud Platform Engineer

Basic Purpose
The Cloud Engineer Contractor helps design, deploy and operate a secure Cloud application infrastructure that aligns with business needs.  They work closely with our Core Services, Security, and Development teams to identify and implement optimal Cloud based solutions for the firm.  The Cloud Engineer Contractor assists with managing various Cloud environments and educating the team on implementation and maintenance of new Cloud-based initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Plan, design, and develop Cloud-based applications, frameworks, and deployment pipeline
  • Help establish Cloud Native Architecture principles for rapid adoption
  • Manage Cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines
  • Deploy and support Cloud initiatives as needed in accordance with best practices throughout the Development lifecycle
  • Educate teammates on implementation and maintenance of Cloud-based technologies
  • Integrate the development of APIs with existing data providers, using JSON or XML as needed
  • Contribute to creation of best practices for the larger Cloud Engineer and Development teams
  • Build and design Web Services in the Cloud
  • Automation orchestration of Cloud-based platforms
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Three to five years’ experience in a Cloud Engineer role or related position
  • Certification as AWS Solutions Architect and/or related technologies
  • Strong knowledge of scripting languages (eg. Python/JavaScript) and source control (eg. Git)
  • Strong knowledge of Terraform or Python/CloudFormation orchestration technologies
  • Experience with SOA applications and cloud-based services, preferably AWS
  • Experience working with Linux/UNIX and Docker or other container technologies
  • Knowledge of Web Services, API, REST and RPC.
  • Strong awareness of networking and internet protocols
  • Database experience, including knowledge of SQL and NoSQL
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace
  • Able to work in tandem with a team of Engineers/Developers or alone as required
