Director, Data Strategy and Governance

Position:              Director, Data Strategy and Governance

General Purpose and Scope of Position:
 
The Director, Data Strategy and Governance will play an impactful role to oversee the overall data strategy across the company. The role will be responsible for setting a holistic vision on how best to structure and organize the data so it can unlock business value. The role will be required to partner across different division and department stakeholders’ teams to ensure data is accurate, timely, and easily available. The role will review the company’s overall data ecosystem which includes, but is not limited to, data ingestion, curation, and reporting.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate the current data ecosystem, define the vision, and drive and deliver across a data roadmap
  • Define, implement, and monitor core KPIs for the data infrastructure including data quality
  • Collaborate with data owners and users to unify data through modern data management techniques
  • Define and implement best practices for data architecture, data processing, and master data management
  • Drive strong partnerships across the organization to fully understand their business goals and link to data needs
  • Help the company drive innovation and leverage data to help support company growth and productivity
  • Responsible for program scope, change and risk management
  • Effectively communicate the platform, product and solution capabilities to all of the relevant participants and stakeholders
  • Oversee Business Intelligence and Analytics practice
Qualifications:
  • Degree in business management, computer science, computer engineering, system analysis or a related field of study
  • 7+ years of experience leading data strategy or data or analytic teams (direct or cross-matrixed) responsible for developing, managing or delivering data products / processes, or data/analytics warehouses, with client delivery or accountability
  • 5+ years of experience leading new data acquisition efforts from the business and operational side (less technology-focused)
  • Experience interfacing with business leaders and strategic partners to develop strategic business plans and data roadmaps
  • Demonstrated success in effectively leveraging cross-functional and matrix resources to deliver high-quality customer-focused solutions. In depth experience building data warehouse solutions, or customer data platforms, from the ground up, supporting multiple applications.
  • The ability to build relationships, work across functional lines, possess superior interpersonal and communications skills, and influence without authority are key capabilities for a leader in this role
  • Demonstrable experience of driving meaningful improvements in business value through data management and delivery of new data products
  • Strong working knowledge of current and upcoming data management, architecture and data product techniques and trends, with a point of view on the evolving concepts and best practices
