Sr Site Reliability Engineer

Intrado’s Life & Safety group is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer to join our team!

Intrado’s Life & Safety division is responsible for some critical parts of our everyday life. Our solutions are responsible for everything that happens after a 9-1-1 call is placed – call routing, delivery, location determination and data management. Whether you call from a landline, cell phone or text 9-1-1, we make sure first responders get the right information at the right time so they can save lives.

As a Site Reliability Engineer with Intrado, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining and supporting production applications, systems and connectivity issues; respond appropriately to requests of production impacting; participate in incident management providing Tier II and Tier III support; observe and respond to network alarm conditions ensuring immediate action; follow established escalation procedures, notifying appropriate internal contacts as warranted; review high level documents and functional requirement documents after product implementation to resolve any problems; develop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of all products and services.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Respond appropriately to requests of production impacting issues

  • Participate in incident management providing Tier II and Tier III support

  • Observe and respond to network alarm conditions ensuring immediate action

  • Participate in the analysis of trends and common issues with applications

  • Determine source of connectivity issues (e.g., middleware, frontend or backend, etc.) documenting and resolving issues as able

  • Follow established escalation procedures, notifying appropriate internal contacts as warranted

  • Act as a liaison with internal teams (e.g., development, QA, etc.) to resolve production issues, satisfy end user SLA's and that those timelines are met

  • Review high level documents (HLD) and functional requirement documents (FRD) after product implementation to resolve any problems

  • Communicate with other team members and affected groups regarding open tickets ensuring resolution

  • Automate repetitive tasks for more efficient support and customer uptime

  • Develop and maintain an in-depth working knowledge of all products and services

  • Coordinate with internal development teams to document and understand usage needs of platforms

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

United States/Canada:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, MIS or related field required

    • Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2 years experience in an application support role required

  • Minimum 1 year experience with application development, database development or systems administration preferred

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Minimum 1 year experience programming with a standard programming language preferred

Based on departmental need, the following may be required:

  • Minimum 1year experience with Windows administration or troubleshooting

  • Minimum 1 year experience with SQL Query

  • Minimum 1 year experience with UNIX command line authoring

  • Minimum 1 year of experience with VPN, WLAN, TCP/IP and FTP/SMTP protocols and troubleshooting

  • Experience with scripting (bash, Ruby, Python, JavaScript, etc

  • Cloud computing experience preferred (Azure, AWS, GCP)

  • Familiar with using and managing monitoring tools (New Relic, DataDog, Solarwinds, Dynatrace, Splunk, etc)

  • Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) standards and practices (Service Level Indicators / Service Level Objectives (SLI/SLO), automation, CICD, etc.)

OTHER

  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel and WordMicrosoft Office suite required

  • Ability to respond to incidents on a 24x7 basis and be part of an on-call rotation

  • Information Technology certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Cisco, Redhat, etc.) preferred
