.Net Desktop Engineer

Montreal, Canada

Our Life & Safety technology group is currently seeking a Desktop (.Net) Developer for our Montreal office located at 7150 Alexander Fleming, however this role is hybrid and does not require full time in office.

Intrado’s Life & Safety division is responsible for some critical parts of our everyday life. Our solutions are responsible for everything that happens after a 9-1-1 call is placed – call routing, delivery, location determination and data management. Whether you call from a landline, cell phone or text 9-1-1, we make sure first responders get the right information at the right time so they can save lives.

BASIC FUNCTION:

As part of an Agile SW Development team, the candidate will participate in designing, developing, and testing new software as well as being involved in the maintenance of existing solutions.

The candidate shall also perform a variety of tasks to validate and ensure quality of new software; write unit tests; document test procedures and perform integration testing to ensure that the solution meets quality requirements. Occasionally the candidate will help technical support specialists to troubleshoot and address technical issues reported by customers.

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Participate in technical reviews including code reviews, design analysis, and software requirements feasibility adheres to departmental methodologies and procedures
  • Code program based on system enhancements, modification requests, or new design specifications
  • Design and implement database schemes
  • Identify unit and system tests to assess conformity of design to specifications, resolving requirements and design conflicts prior to implementation
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field required, however equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Minimum 2-3 years increasingly responsible programming experience using a standard coding language and/or platform required
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience writing detailed program designs for medium to large sized projects preferred

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Exposure to .NET C# 
  • C++ is preferred
  • Experience in object oriented programming
  • Experience in multithreding
  • Experience in code optimization
  • Experience with real time data processing
  • Experience with GUI development in .NET using WPF.
  • Experience with Agile process, test-driven development and continuous integration environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to learn and apply new ideas quickly.
