Unix/Windows Systems Administrator

As a Systems Administrator with Intrado you will be responsible for the entire day-to-day administration of assigned platform, including troubleshooting and resolving problems as they arise; develop plans and processes designed to improve long-term capabilities of system; ensure platform or system is operating correctly at all times without over-utilizing resources and is recognizing connections with other applicable machines on the network; develop new tools and procedures aimed at making platform maintenance more effective and efficient, identifying processes that can be automated


  • Manage and maintain currently supported and subsequent UNIX based Operating Systems (OS) on physical and virtual operating environments, providing technical oversight and consultation services.
  • Utilize UNIX scripting (Bourne, Korn, PERL, BASH, PowerShell, etc.) to optimize and automate system administrator tasks.
  • Provide technical support for disaster recovery efforts (actual or simulated).
  • Perform hardware and software technology refreshes, ensuring milestone compliance while coordinating with MPs to minimize disruptions.
  • Work with and manage Incident Management tickets within help desk ticketing system.
  • Perform back-up/recovery functions for UNIX server environments.
  • Perform all security/compliance functions for UNIX server environments, including (Assured Compliance Acceptance Center (ACAS), SPLUNK, Host Based Security System (HBSS), Enterprise Security Posture System (ESPS), etc.) to monitor and mitigate vulnerabilities and ensure compliance within specified timelines.


Applicant for this job will be expected to meet the following minimum qualifications.


  • Associate degree in computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, computer engineer or a related field is required. A Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, electrical engineering, computer engineer or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements.


  • Minimum one year experience administering and maintaining an operating system is required. One year experience in call center operations or telecommunications preferred
  • Advanced work in pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree (e.g., junior and senior year, etc.) in computer science, MIS, or a related field can be substituted for one year of system experience
